Appature, Ios and Shutter

So you're using a camera and you want to know the info behind it...

Shutter- Shutter speed is all about the amount of time the shutter is open. The speed of the shutter is in seconds, the bigger the amount of seconds the faster the shutter. For example there is a trail of traffic and you set your camera on a bridge with a tripod the and you put a slow shutter speed on, the picture will appear blurred but effective at the same time. Say for example you did that without a tripod the picture will be blurry but not as effective. You want to aim for something like this.

Aperture-  The aperture can be adjusted on the lens to control the amount of light coming through the lens. When you are using the camera there is going to be letter 'F' in front of the number. The 'F' stands for focal. The higher the number of the F means the smaller the aperture of the lens. The lower the number of the F the bigger the aperture of the lens. There is also a problem because the smaller the lens means that there is not going to be enough light coming into

unit 70 computer game story development

Without a character there is no narrative. Well that's how i see it. While the narrative is going on you will want to know more about the characters and what they have in connection with the narrative. Characters are created to promote a certain game.. to catch a certain gamers eye. This all comes down to target audience. Gamers are all about their characters, their characters features and any sort of skills. So all in all it depends on who the person is to match what kind of character and also what kind of game.

The game in which i am choosing with a strong protagonist is Tomb raider. Let us start off with who the protagonist of this game actually is. The protagonist is Lara Croft who plays as third person perspective.  Her role in the game is to battle through her way in this deserted island full of uneasy creatures and dead people as her ship has been wrecked and she has been left on her own. The main task is for her to survive through all the obstacle that may get in her way through the exploration. Now going onto the characterisation. In this game i believe that using a woman was a strong point, many people may have thought a woman? for a survival game? Believe it or not, by using a woman to play as the protagonist it has increased the sales of the game overall. Besides the business side of all things the game has attracted more woman to play the game too as nowadays all we see in games is men having to go through all the battles, it was nice to have a change for once. Lara is also this strong, brave woman who is intelligent enough to fight her way through. This also shows people that it is not always men who have the power, woman have also got the mind and body strength to battle their way through.

One of the antagonists i have chosen to talk about is featured in the game Metal gear solid 3 and is known by the name of 'The Boss'. I know not the most creative of names but trust me, once you play it you will realise as to why he is called that. The boss will take it easy on u at first but then she stops playing nice with naked snake even though that is her former lover. As you continue on in the game you will realise that the boss is one of the best soldiers who has ever lived, she is one that even her enemies respected. Once you come closer to the end of the game, you will realise that she is probably one of the most honourable opponents you will ever face.

What is backstory? Well it is pretty simple to figure out, it is the story before the actual game starts. It gives you a slight overview of what the game is about and what your main objective is throughout and answers your questions as to what is going on. One of the games that i have played with a backstory is very recent and is GTA5. In the beginning of the film you are introduced to 3 characters who are robbing a bank. After accomplishing this, they then go onto making a runner. As they are doing this the police have surrounded them off and they are trapped, with everything at a blur one of the characters gets shot, but who? Character trevor believes that it is good friend Michael who gets shot and dies when really it is not, leaving you to unveil the truth yourself. When i first played this it had bought masses of excitement into me that i just wanted to play and find out more, the way they have explained and portrayed everything to the gamer is as if it as a movie or even real life based. Moving onto the next game that i will be talking about is double dragon which is a fairly old game. As kids we probably thought they were just two brothers who wander the streets of new york looking for people to beat up, but what we did not know was that the game was actually meant to be taking place in the post apocalypse, and Billy and Jimmy are not just two brothers, they are supposed to be two martial arts masters! who are protecting a sacred and secret style. Finding out the backstory for this game bought a whole load of thinking to my head but gave the game a slight more interest.

magazine layout (miss paradise)

Daily mail and vogue magazine layout contrasts

In todays lesson we looked at layouts of e-magazines. The two sites in which i looked at were 'Daily mail' and 'Vogue fashion magazine'. The two contrasted in various ways. First i analysed 'Daily mail' as soon as you enter the site we could see that there were big headings to grab the readers attention. The page was laid out with 3 columns. The first column was about a news heading about a motorist getting a fine, the text was written in big and they decided to show the distraught  pictures at first. The pictures used were to show the readers the emotions of the people involved in the story, they showed a picture of the motorist who received the fine looking very unpleased and made the man look like the bad guy in the situation, right below we see the picture of the family (victims) looking very upset, this is to get the readers to feel some sympathy towards the family. In the middle column it had a miniture gallery which navigated you to stories about celebrities and their recent updates. This was very easy to navigate and is full of pictures! Below it had miniture subheadings about the recent politics happening worldwide and the third column was also stories laid out with pictures and little summaries of what the story is about so it gets the reader going. Also on top of these headlines it says 'don't miss'. This a way of reaching the readers attention. Another thing i have also realised from this page is that they had a search engine so you can look up previous stories online and also a little ad telling us to follow them on social networking sites twitter and facebook.

I then went onto the vogue website this website was more organised and less packed with info. On the top left of the site it had the company name and underneath there were headings which navigate you to different departments of the site to show what is happening in and around the company. In big lettering the word 'Magazine' is shown to us which tells us straight we are looking at their e-magazine. Underneath that they have easy to navigate pages to look through. It has 2 columns where there is one main column talking about the main stories and the second column which is links to separate pages and adverts. In the main column it talks about the recent fashion updates and what is happening in the fashion/modelling world. On the first story they used a rhetorical question which is really effective. On the right hand side of the page there is only two adds about other magazine updates where people get the opportunity to subscribe. Unlike daily mail, vogues subheadings have minor text underneath them whereas daily mail has a long summary about the story. On the top right hand of the site there is miniture search engine symbol and an option to register or login to get more updates of what is going on.

We can see that daily mail is trying to have more of a diverse audience and trying to grab as many peoples attention whereas vogue knows who their target audience is and are more about the layout of their page to represent the company. The vogue magazine has also  got less information rather than daily mail and also vogue is only talking about one particular subject for it's company and daily mail is talking about many as it is more of a newspaper company for the world to read whoever you are.

Pilot Diary 13 - Cast list

Making a cast list is all part of the plan. The main reason for making a cast list is so that we have a file of the characters, their names, their age, their contact details and what experience they have had. This is is so that this document can be handy when we are trying to get hold of the actors/actresses when you need them and also you can send them updates via email or text. You will have to know who you are going to need in your cast and when they will be available to film in order that things do not get complicated on days of shooting. This will save plenty of time for me and my group and keep ahead with time management.

Pilot diary 9 - Script

Today we started writing up the first bits of our script and was on our way to a good start. We knew it was going to take some time but beforehand we have been prepped because we made our storyline summary which means we knew what our script was going to be based on. We looked at a few different types of scripts at first and also watched the movies that go along with them too. The first script we looked at was The Darjeeling Limited. One of the things that we pointed out was that a lot of the things from the script and the actual movie have changed meaning some of the stuff from the script have been cut from the movie. Another script we looked at was called G.M this script had no dialogue written it, it just had text on the storyline. We then watched the movie for this script and we could see that there was no dialogue used, so the script for this movie was exactly what i needed as an example for my own.  Personally I knew that my pilot will not have dialogue which made it easy for me to know how i will write my script and in what structure.

Pilot diary 10- story board

Today we were given a printed out story board so we can do some rough drawings about how our storyline will be looking. Although our sketches were not the most artistic nor the best, but we had a go of it and it went fairly well as we got to finish the story board.

Pilot 11- photo story board

So we had our sketched story boards ready all we needed to do now was to put it as an actual picture frame. So with my actor ready, we was ready to go ahead and snap away. We were planning to go to Barmy park which is a local park and take the photos at the location. We could only film in daylight and we also had to make sure that it was not raining during the time of taking the photos.
