Pilot Diary 13 - Cast list

Making a cast list is all part of the plan. The main reason for making a cast list is so that we have a file of the characters, their names, their age, their contact details and what experience they have had. This is is so that this document can be handy when we are trying to get hold of the actors/actresses when you need them and also you can send them updates via email or text. You will have to know who you are going to need in your cast and when they will be available to film in order that things do not get complicated on days of shooting. This will save plenty of time for me and my group and keep ahead with time management.

Pilot diary 9 - Script

Today we started writing up the first bits of our script and was on our way to a good start. We knew it was going to take some time but beforehand we have been prepped because we made our storyline summary which means we knew what our script was going to be based on. We looked at a few different types of scripts at first and also watched the movies that go along with them too. The first script we looked at was The Darjeeling Limited. One of the things that we pointed out was that a lot of the things from the script and the actual movie have changed meaning some of the stuff from the script have been cut from the movie. Another script we looked at was called G.M this script had no dialogue written it, it just had text on the storyline. We then watched the movie for this script and we could see that there was no dialogue used, so the script for this movie was exactly what i needed as an example for my own.  Personally I knew that my pilot will not have dialogue which made it easy for me to know how i will write my script and in what structure.

Pilot diary 10- story board

Today we were given a printed out story board so we can do some rough drawings about how our storyline will be looking. Although our sketches were not the most artistic nor the best, but we had a go of it and it went fairly well as we got to finish the story board.

Pilot 11- photo story board

So we had our sketched story boards ready all we needed to do now was to put it as an actual picture frame. So with my actor ready, we was ready to go ahead and snap away. We were planning to go to Barmy park which is a local park and take the photos at the location. We could only film in daylight and we also had to make sure that it was not raining during the time of taking the photos.

Types of Photography

Portrait Photography

This photo has been taken by Brett Harkness a man who specializes in wedding photography but also spends his time working on other sectors of photography such as family portraits and fashion. The reason as to why i have chosen this photo as my portrait photo is because i feel as if the man behind the photo has mixed emotions. One of the ways i look at it as is giving up temptation. Another way i look at it is the man is going through frustration. I also like the use of black and white in the photo, this brings out the age of the man and the true details on his face. The wrinkles on his forehead and the minor details of his beard.

Architectural Photography

A photo taken by Joas Souza. A Brazillian interior and architectural photographer based in London. The reason as to why i have chosen his photo is because i love how he has used slow shutter speed to get the affect of the moving traffic and still keeping the building bold and standing out with the sky looking like it is midnight blue. I also love the fact that he has taken the shot at a corner angle so we get to see the full width of the building, we can tell that the photographer has truly thought about what he wants from this photo and has a good eye for angles.

Documentary Photography

This photo was taken by Alex Masi, an Italian documentary photographer who is based in London. What he has shot here is young boy who is  breathing in chemicals from a cloth and behind is a man begging on the floor. The photo was taken in one of the underground exits of cannought place in the centre of New Delhi. I like how they have used to the kid at the spotlight in a way it shows a sense of sympathy to people.

Promotional Photography

This is an image of a Greek restaurant taken by Promotional photographer Sally Crane. What i think she has tried achieving from this is just to get the Company logo and their telephone number so that people who see it get the main info that they need for the restaurant straight away. There is also a lot of natural light set against the restaurant name and number.

This is another photo she has taken of the food presentation at the resteraunt. This also falls under the category of promotional photography. She is trying to show how the food is presented and what kind of food is being served.

Landscape Photography

This is a great shot of landscape photography taken in New Zealand taken by a photographer called Adam Burton. He has used slow shutter speed to get the smooth effect of the water which is having the same effect as the sky. It seems as in this shot the photographer has placed the camera on the slab to make it still. I love how we can see a bit of the cliff as well as the water and the rocks.

Pilot diary 12 - Location Recce

In order to film in certain locations we needed to plan out a location recce where we know the detasils of the area we are going to film in and also any obstructions that may come in the way
