Openworld gaming is where a gamer has the opportunity to raom around through a virtual world. It is given considerable freedom in choosing how or when to reach any objective.
Now, the difference between sandbox gaming and open world gaming is that sandbox lets you do anything you literally can imagine. You have no limits within objectives. For example you can build a castle and blow it all up! it's all up to you. Whereas open world gaming you have limits towards the objectives, for example you can own a house in the game but not modify anything inside it.
The game i will be talking about is GTA IV. This game has a very structured narrative which is less complicated than GTA V the reason being is because it only has one main character carrying out the missions and GTA V has 3 main characters. GTA IV is about a man who is name 'Niko bellic' who has travelled from Russia to the states to make a living. He has to go through multiple missions meeting new people and making friends within. He goes through his ups and downs but the narrative is rather simple as it follows on, once you make more money you move up the lifestyle you're living. You start off in a normal flat in a run down area and move up to the city to a penthouse and other apartments.
I prefer narrative games due to the fact that i feel as if i am actually living the game myself, almost as if i am more involved in the game, where as linear i do not feel as involved which makes my gaming experience more boring.
I think people who are hardcore gamers start to get bored of games that have an ending to it, i think what they are looking for nowadays are games that have no proper ending to it and this is exactly what Little big planet has done for its gamers. The target audience for little big planet is 'everyone' which is said by the producers. A game for all ages is something that everyone needs. Not only have they allowed you to have that platforming experience but also a level of creativity which every player needs.
